Frog's Rockin' (70's) Surprise by coolhilts
It was Don MacLean who said "the music died" with a plane crash in 1959. If he mean't the SPIRIT and INNOCENSE of Rock and Roll died that day, perhaps he was right. Great Rock and Roll did continue into the 60's, but it fell into drugs, psychodelia, and protest as we hit the 70's ... and eventually evolved into (EEEK!) the BUBBLEGUM/DISCO era of David Cassidy and the Bee Gees. That was the dreariest period for FROGS, with Elvis self- destructing, Lennon turned peacenick, McCartney just WINGING IT, and Brian Wilson playing in his sandbox. With my old rockers gone and the new ones TUNED OUT, I'd spend the next 30 years searching for anything that sounded familiar ... OR GOOD. Thankfully, I'd get surprised every now and again with a catchy tune that captured at least the spirit of 50's Rock and Roll. You'll have to stretch your imagination a bit, for this playlist isn't Doo Wop. But it does show that, in the 70's, the music hadn't died afterall. FROGS LIVE [Forever Rock's Oldest Generation]
