Chuck Wagon Gang
This Carter Family, who have apparently had no ancestral connection with the legendary Carter Family, also established themselves with their fine family harmony singing. Although many of their songs have been sung and recorded by country artists, the Chuck Wagon Gang were a country gospel group. Originally the group comprised D.P. "Dad' Carter (b. David Parker Carter, 25 September 1889, Milltown, Kentucky, USA, d. 28 April 1963) and three of his nine children, namely Jim (b. Ernest Carter, 10 August 1910, Tioga, Texas, USA, d. 2 February 1971; guitar), Rose (b. Rosa Lola Carter, 31 December 1915, Noel, Missouri, USA, d. 13 May 1997) and Anna (b. Effie Carter, 15 February 1917, Shannon, Texas, USA, d. 5 March 2004). Members" names were changed to what were believed more suitable radio names, but it led to confusion when family members of the group became interchangeable and a younger daughter was later named Anna.
