Little Brother
Alternative rap group formed in 1998 by producer 9th Wonder (b. Patrick Douthit, 15 January 1975, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA), and rappers Big Pooh (b. Thomas Jones, North Carolina, USA) and Phonte (b. Phonte Coleman, North Carolina, USA). The trio is closely affiliated with the North Carolina-based hip-hop collective the Justus League, which was set up by 9th Wonder and rapper Cesar Comanche in 1999. After releasing the underground hit singles "Speed" and "Atari 2600", they made their full-length debut in 2003 for the ABB label with The Listening. The album became a word-of-mouth success, with its classic hip-hop sound built around 9th Wonder's clever sampling of old soul records, while on "So Fabulous" the two rappers paid loving homage to a number of 80s rappers.
