Tony Yayo
b. Marvin Bernard, 31 March 1978, Queens, New York City, New York, USA. A member of the G-Unit crew and a close associate of US superstar rapper 50 Cent, Yayo sometimes goes by the name of Tsunami Yayo or T.O.N.Y. (Talk Of New York). Yayo spent a large part of his early life rapping and hustling alongside 50 Cent on the New York streets, building up a fearsome reputation on the underground battle circuit with his rapid-fire delivery and quick-fire wit. By the start of the new millennium he was already a star on the mixtape scene. He put together G-Unit with 50 Cent and another friend Lloyd Banks, and with 50 Cent poised to cross over to the mainstream, the future looked bright for Yayo's own solo career. Unfortunately his past then caught up with him when he was arrested on New Year's Eve 2002 on a weapons-possession charge. Yayo received a one-year jail sentence because of an outstanding warrant for a previous charge. 50 Cent, who was arrested at the same time, escaped serving time and saw his profile rise to superstar status in 2003 with the release of the bestselling Get Rich Or Die Tryin'.
