Jace Everett
b. c.1972, Evansville, Indiana, USA. Raised in Texas, Everett took up the guitar as a child and also played bass at church. His strong religious beliefs encouraged him to consider becoming an evangelical preacher but after leaving school in 1990 he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he continued his studies, meantime beginning to build a local reputation as a player, singer and songwriter. Although this was in country music, he joined a rock band with which he toured overseas. He spent some time in France in the mid- to late 90s, playing in bands and he also married before returning to Euless, Texas with his new wife and young son. His marriage ended in 2000, and soon afterwards he was signed to MCA Records but the deal foundered during company reorganization. He then signed with Sony Records and met songwriter Stephany Delray; they began writing songs together and were later married. In addition to their songwriting collaborations, Delray also plays bass in Everett's band in which he plays keyboards as well as guitar.
