Yukmouth
b. Jerold Dwight Ellis Jnr., 18 October 1974, Oakland, California, USA. This Los Angeles-based rapper made his name as one half of rap duo the Luniz, who enjoyed a brief moment of fame in 1995 with the international hit single "I Got 5 On It'. Following the release of their second collection, 1997"s Lunitik Muzik, the duo put the Luniz on hold. Yukmouth signed a recording contract with the Rap-A-Lot label while setting up his own operation, Smoke-A-Lot. His 1998 solo debut, Thugged Out: The Albulation, was a sprawling double album which eschewed the comic stylings of the Luniz in favour of a misguided hardcore stance.
