Stan Ridgway
b. Stanard Ridgway, 5 April 1954, Barstow, California, USA. Ridgway was brought up as a Christian Scientist and his mother's tendency to bring Kirlian photographs home for her son to look at may have contributed to his love of the more perverse elements of life. At school he was nicknamed Mr. Monster and formed the Monster Club. He also admits to being the "man who cried when Bela Lugosi died!". A sometime cab driver, Ridgway's first major musical venture was the soundtrack company - Acme - he formed with Marc Moreland. They became Wall Of Voodoo in 1977, the name taken in deference to Phil Spector's "Wall Of Sound" recording techniques.
