Sleeping At Last
Originating from Wheaton, Illinois, this US alternative rock band was formed in 1999 by brothers Ryan O'Neal (vocals/guitar) and Chad O'Neal (drums), with the line-up completed by Dan Perdue (bass/keyboards). Their independently released debut EP There's A Quiet Understanding " was released at the end of the year, with the full-length Capture following at the start of 2000. Although still relatively young, the trio managed to convey an impressive grasp of the rudiments of post-millennial emo rock, with shards of melody interspersed among the brooding guitar and keyboards. These releases attracted the attention of several major labels and led to a contract with Interscope Records. Released in 2003, Ghosts built on the promise of their early work with a more professional production sound and was promoted by a major tour with Switchfoot, but despite critical plaudits the band's tenure with Interscope proved short-lived. Undeterred, the trio returned to independent status and began work on a new album, pausing only to complete the Ghosts Of Christmas Past EP. Their third album release, Keep No Score, lacked the melodic accessibility of Ghosts but was an impressive follow-up nonetheless.
