Originating from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, this pop punk band was formed in 2003 by Jason Dunn (b. Peterborough, Ontario, Canada; vocals/piano), Daniel Biro (b. Barrie, Ontario, Canada; bass/vocals), Davin Clark (guitar), and Matt Paige (drums). Dunn, Clark and Paige had previously played together in the Peterborough-based band Swish. The quartet's debut EP Saturday Rock Action was released in 2003 by the Christian rock label Tooth & Nail Records and was swiftly followed by the full-length Letters To The President. Sticking close to the successful musical formula of mainstream bands such as Good Charlotte and Simple Plan, the album deviated markedly from those acts with its lyrical focus on conservative moral issues and the Christian faith. Jonathan Steingard (b. 23 June 1983) and Aaron Tosti replaced Clark and Paige on the follow-up Smile, It's The End Of The World, which tempered the rather preachy tone of its predecessor with a more regulation punky angst. Nevertheless, the single "Everything You Ever Wanted' enjoyed great success on the Christian charts, and the band's popularity on the live circuit showed no sign of waning. Justin Benner replaced Tosti on 2008"s Hawk Nelson & "Is My Friend!", which took its title from a popular T-shirt sold by the band at their concerts.
