Days Away
Formed in 1998 in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, this US indie rock band originally comprised high school friends Keith Goodwin (vocals/guitar), Matt Austin (guitar), Matt Robnett (guitar), Matt Haines (drums), and Chris Frangicetto (bass). After establishing themselves on the Philadelphia-based independent scene, the band decamped to California at the start of the new millennium, with Greg Itzen replacing Robnett. The EP The Feel Of It was released via the indie label We The People in 2002, but shortly afterwards Itzen and Haines departed. New drummer Tim Arnold was subsequently brought into the line-up, making his debut on the EP L.S.D. The band's ranks were swelled with the addition of keyboard player Bryan Gulla and, with a new contract with the established independent label Fueled By Ramen in place, the new look quintet made its album debut in 2005 with Mapping An Invisible World. Featuring all the tracks from the L.S.D. EP and five new tracks, this quality indie pop collection was reminiscent of Coldplay in its melodic intensity. Sadly, the album was overlooked by the record buying public and hastened the band's departure from Fueled By Ramen. The band soldiered on, recruiting new lead guitarist Jake Weiss and releasing the Ear Candy For The Headphone Trippers EP on the Sargent House label at the end of 2007.
