The Los Angeles, California, USA-based noise pop band Autolux was formed by Eugene Goreshter (vocals/bass), Greg Edwards (guitar, ex-Failure), and Carla Azar (drums, ex-Ednaswap). The trio came together in 2000 following a collaboration between Azar and Goreshter on a score for a local production of the Dario Fo play Accidental Death Of An Anarchist. Enlisting guitarist Edwards, they wanted to create a band that mirrored their mutual love of heavy experimental music, with their passion for more accessible pop bands such as the Beatles. The resulting experimental rock sound combined guitar feedback with pop, and was undeniably influenced by Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine.
