A House
A witty, intelligent post-punk pop band from Dublin, Eire, led by lyricist Dave Couse (vocals), with Fergal Bunbury (guitar) and Martin Healy (bass). The band was originally signed by Geoff Travis for his Warner Brothers Records-backed Blanco y Negro label in 1987, on the strength of their debut single "Kick Me Again Jesus" and support slots with the Waterboys. However, their debut album failed commercially. Still tied to a two-album contract, the band then recorded I Want Too Much, which was highly acclaimed for bright, defiant songs such as "The Patron Saint Of Mediocrity". However, many considered that the album signalled the end of the band, but they subsequently regrouped. Keith Cullen had recently set up the Setanta Records label (also home to Frank And Walters and Into Paradise) and invited them to join the roster.
