The Levellers' affinity with the neo-hippie/new age travellers initially seemed likely to prevent them from achieving mass appeal, but the success of their records in the UK charts during the mid-90s and their huge following continually surprised the cynics, of which there were many.

  what a fantastic band...so jolly but so laid back, and mellow...god what i wouldn't do to meet them. their concerts that i used to go to were just so lively and everybody just enjoyed it...no tension at all. i certainly left in high spirits :O)
