Steadman
While they sound in step with renowned Britpop acts such as Oasis and Radiohead, there is something unmistakably "pop" about the Hastings, England quintet, Steadman. Formed in 1998, the band did not have to look far for a fitting moniker - the last name of singer-songwriter Simon Steadman. Bitten by the music bug early on, Steadman's mother owned a London club, and as a result, the youngster had the privilege of hearing a wide variety of music. Subsequently, Simon honed his singing and songwriting skills by playing in front of local crowds in pubs during the mid-90s, eventually resulting in crossing paths with Dave Walton (bass), Ellie Wyatt (keyboards), and Russell Field (drums). A short while later, Paul Phillips (guitar) joined the band. The quintet was originally known as the Dharmas before a failed major label recording contract with Arista Records prompted a name change.
