Babble
This UK duo comprises Tom Bailey (b. 18 January 1956, Halifax, Yorkshire, England) and Alannah Currie (b. 28 September 1959, Auckland, New Zealand; percussion, saxophone), formerly members of the hugely successful 80s band the Thompson Twins. Babble was inaugurated in order to allow them to tread a more experimental path, particularly in the use of keyboard textures and electronica without their previous reliance on pop choruses. The Stone revealed how deeply Bailey and Currie had immersed themselves in club culture, featuring dub bass lines set against house and techno rhythms. Ether, released in 1996, continued this refinement. It was promoted by the single "Love Has No Name", remixed by Todd Terry, with hip-hop/R&B singer Teremoana Rapley on vocals. The duo has subsequently put the project on hold.
