This US R&B vocal quartet comprises Wayne Spears, Otis Jupiter, Jelani Phillips, Stephen Joyce, who were the first signings to rap veteran LL Cool J's Rock The Bells imprint. The four singers first met in 1995 at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Originally called Fort‚, they travelled to New York to hawk their demo around labels. Coming to the attention of LL Cool J as he was busy finalising a co-operative deal with Warner Brothers Records was a stroke of luck, and the group were able to call on the services of the rapper as executive producer on their debut album. The boldly titled The World Is Ours was a well-produced but bland slice of urban R&B, with the most distinctive track a cover version of the Force MD's' classic "Tender Love". "Come Home With Me" was also featured on the soundtrack to LL Cool J's hit movie, Deep Blue Sea.
