Love Unlimited
Formed in 1969 in San Pedro, California, USA, under the aegis of singer/producer Barry White, this female vocal group comprised Diane Taylor, Linda James and her sister Glodean James, who married White on 4 July 1974. The trio had an early US Top 20 hit with "Walkin' In The Rain With The One I Love" (1972), an imaginatively arranged performance which married contemporary soul to the aura of the now-passed girl-group genre, reminiscent of the Shangri-Las. Love Unlimited's later releases included "It May Be Winter Outside (But In My Heart It's Spring)" (1973) and "Under The Influence Of Love" (1974), both of which White had previously recorded with Felice Taylor. The care the producer lavished on such releases equalled that of his own, but despite further R&B hits, "I Belong To You" (1974) was the trio's final US pop chart entry.
