Hardline
This US hard rock act evolved from a songwriting partnership between brothers Johnny and Joey Gioeli (vocals and guitar, respectively, both ex-Brunette) and ex-Santana, Journey and Bad English guitarist Neal Schon. Bad English drummer Deen Castronovo joined, and completed the rhythm section by drafting in childhood friend Todd Jensen (ex-David Lee Roth; bass). Double Eclipse was classy American radio rock, with Schon unleashing some of the guitar firepower that had been restricted by Bad English's lighter AOR style, and the band spent some time touring, including US dates supporting Van Halen, before the debut was actually released. However, when Schon, Jensen and Castronovo took considerable time off to act as a backing band on Paul Rodgers' solo tour, the resulting friction split Hardline.
