This US quartet emerged from Austin, Texas, in 1997 with a melodic take on the popular post-grunge sound of the late 90s. Formed by Mark Morris (guitar/vocals), Mike Vlahakis (guitar), Chad Robinson (bass/vocals) and Chase Scott (drums), the band first broke into the spotlight in 1999 with an acoustic cover version of N.W.A.'s "Boyz 'N The Hood". The track, which was featured on the band's independently released debut album, became a radio hit and immediately allied Dynamite Hack to other rock acts with a penchant for geeky humour, notably Weezer and the Barenaked Ladies. The follow-up, Superfast, was released via Universal Records at the start of the following year. The album was an enjoyable if lightweight continuation of the musical and lyrical themes of the band's debut. Kyle Schneider replaced Scott as the quartet toured in support of the album.
