Brecker Brothers
Randy Brecker (b. 27 November 1945, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA) and Michael Brecker (b. 29 March 1949, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, d. 13 January 2007, New York City, New York, USA) were two of the most in-demand studio musicians of the last 35 years, having supplied the horn licks to untold major records. Randy originally attended Indiana University to study under David Baker, and undertook a lengthy State Department tour with the university's band, directed by Jerry Coker. He relocated to New York in 1966 and joined Blood, Sweat And Tears, staying for a year before joining up with Horace Silver's quintet. Michael, another Indiana University student, turned professional at the age of 19 with Edwin Birdsong's band, before teaming up with his older brother, Billy Cobham, Chuck Rainey and Will Lee in the jazz rock co-operative Dreams.
