Banda El Recodo
Legends in their native Mexico, Mazatl n, Sinaloa's Banda El Recodo had released nearly 200 records before making their debut outside of the Americas. Part of the reason for the renewed interest in their music was their association with the la quebradita craze. This cowboy-hatted dance is a frenetic visual spectacle, and achieved massive popularity during the early 90s. However, unlike many of the groups that sprang up to sate Mexico's appetite for the dance, Banda El Recodo had a history spanning 55 years. They are the longest running "banda" in the world, and were the first such outfit to be recorded. Banda (literally "band" in Spanish) is a music for parties and festivals, characterised by its pounding blend of horns and percussion, with a repertoire drawn from Latin dance, jazz swing and classical.

La madre de todas las bandas, la única y auténtica música de banda y no las chingaderas que suelen escucharse hoy día.
