Comprising boyfriend/girlfriend team, Vincent Cafiso (guitar/vocals) and Tabitha Tindale (vocals/keyboards), this Long Island, New York, USA based duo specialize in lo-fi alt pop sounds. They first met at a local "battle of the bands" contest, with Tindale originally serving as Cafiso's former group's manager. Soon after, Tindale and Cafiso realized a special musical chemistry existed between them, and set out to form their own band. After taking an extended period to hone their songwriting and approach (during which Cafiso allegedly indulged in quite a bit of LSD experimentation, to jump start his creativity), a few home-made demos made their way to a British label, Eye Q, who in turn signed the duo. By now known as Joy Zipper, a self-titled debut album was issued in 2000, as they quickly became the toast of UK music critics (NME called the disc "one of the sweetest, strangest records of the year").
