The first "rock' act to be signed to James Lavelle's beats label Mo' Wax Records, this UK band was among several guitar-based outfits to find favour on the post-millennial club scene. Joel Cadbury, Jamie McDonald and Brett Shaw first met at Haverstock Secondary School, London. The three multi-instrumentalists signed to Mo" Wax in late 1998, becoming the label's in-house band and making several acclaimed live appearances at Fabric. Three limited edition 7-inch singles and an even rarer 12-inch EP preceded the recording of their long-playing debut during summer 2000. The band also took time out to collaborate with Lavelle on the Sexy Beast soundtrack. From Here On In was an overlong m‚lange of rock, funk and beats which at its best was reminiscent of peak-era Stone Roses, and at its worst a sprawling, baggy mess.
