Blaine Larsen
b. 20 February 1986, Tacoma, Washington, USA. This US country artist made headlines in 2004 when, at the age of 18, his single "In My High School' reached the Billboard charts. Larsen spent his early childhood in California but returned to Washington State with his mother following his parents" divorce. Introduced to country music by his stepfather, Larsen was soon singing and playing guitar and, by the time he started high school, was playing regularly around his native Buckley. A demo CD recorded during a short trip to Nashville attracted the attention of music city songwriters Rory Lee Feek and Tim Johnson, who invited the 15-year old Larsen to return to Nashville to record further demo tracks. After a recording contract with Sony Nashville fell through, Larsen opted to work with Feek and Johnson as the lead artist for their newly formed Giantslayer Records label. "In My High School", co-written by Johnson and Larsen, crossed over to the mainstream country charts in summer 2004, while his debut album of the same title was released later in the year. The success of the single and the album attracted further major label attention, with BNA re-releasing the album at the start of the following year under the new title Off To Join The World and with the addition of a cover version of Jerry Kilgore's "That's All I've Got To Say About That". By this point Larsen was making further waves on the country charts with "How Do You Get That Lonely".

I'm really surprised that major country music producers haven't picked up on the talent of this young man. His titled song "How did you get that lonely" was very inspirational. I like his style.
