David Morales
b. 21 August 1961, Brooklyn, New York, USA. Born of Puerto Rican parents, Morales is one of the USA's premier remixers. His style, melodic house with a strong disco influence, belies his personal physique and presence, that of a pencil-bearded, tattooed body-builder. Married with a son, he works out for two hours every day, although he also employs a bodyguard for his regular evening shows (he was shot in his youth). As a young man he attended both the Loft and Paradise Garage, before being invited to play at the latter through Judy Weinstein's For The Record organisation. His other stomping grounds included all the major New York clubs, including the Ozone Layer, Inferno and Better Days. The Morales' style has graced literally hundreds of records, his first remix being Insync's "Sometimes Love". He possibly works best in tandem with a strong garage vocalist (Alison Limerick, Ce Ce Penniston, Yazz, Jocelyn Brown).
