When youth pastor Mark Hall wanted to reach out to the kids on his southern worship circuit in the late 1990s, he figured that having a rock band would put his message across much more effectively than if he tried to sway with words alone. The result is Casting Crowns, one of the most popular groups in the Contemporary Christian Music world. Hall's musical ministry is characterized by searing guitar work, uplifting melodies, and super-sized production that has won over secular audiences as well as believers. The band's 2005 best-seller, LIFESONG, inspired a popular video, live album, and inspirational book, and their follow-up recordings have been just as well received.
