finetune artist: Avalon

This Dutch heavy metal quintet was formed in 1984 by guitarist Jack Pisters and vocalist Richard Muermans. Recruiting Maarten Huiskamp (keyboards), Erik Fox (bass) and Jacques Kraal (drums), the band specialized in combining the hard-driving rock style of Iron Maiden with very intricate and off-beat guitarwork that at times verged on the avant garde. They released an excellent mini-album in 1986 on the independent Dynamo label. This focused attention on the band's imaginative lyrics and futuristic guitar sound. Unfortunately, as soon as the album appeared the band underwent several personnel changes, prompting its eventual demise. This Avalon should not be confused with either the Capitol Records recording artists from the USA, the London recording artists from Canada, or the folk artists, all of whom share the same name.
