Todd Agnew
b. 15 March 1971, Texas, USA. This US singer-songwriter enjoyed notable success on the CCM market at the start of the new millennium, with a style that drew heavily on contemporary pop rock bands such as the Calling and Lifehouse. From a Native American background, Agnew was adopted by Christian parents and grew up singing in the church. He followed the familiar route of many Christian artists, working as a worship leader while also playing secular music in local clubs. After relocating to Memphis, he made his independent debut in 2001 with Breath Of God. The album flew under the radar upon its release but earned good enough notices on the CCM scene to land the artist a recording contract with the Christian label Ardent Records. 2003's Grace Like Rain, boasted better production values but stuck close to the formula established on his debut, with a slick pop rock backing for his devotional lyrics. The follow-ups, 2005's Reflection Of Something and 2007's Better Questions, earned the singer a larger fanbase and even reached the mainstream charts, but there was little of note on either record to separate Agnew from a glut of similar artists. Agnew also released the seasonal Do You See What I See? in 2006, based around characters from the traditional Christmas story.
