Ill Nino
Formed in 1999 by Cristian Machado (b. 1974, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; vocals), Dave Chavarri (b. 1967, Lima, Peru; drums) and Lazaro Pina (bass), this New Jersey, USA-based heavy metal band has used its members' multi-cultural backgrounds to create a more expansive sound than many of their contemporaries. The band's self-titled debut EP, released on the independent C.I.A. label in 2000, featured the latest additions to the line-up, Jardel Paisante (b. 5 October 1977, Brazil; guitar), Marc Rizzo (b. 2 August 1977, Carlstadt, New Jersey, USA; guitar) and Roger Vasquez (percussion), with Jorge Rosado providing vocals for the closing two tracks and DJ Pookie adding electronic effects. The positive critical impact afforded the EP led to a recording contract with the established metal label Roadrunner Records, with the resulting Revolution Revoluci¢n appearing at the end of 2001. The line-up that had recorded the EP was present on this superb album, minus Rosado and Pookie but with additional programming from Omar Clavijo.
