Deepest Blue
This UK-based electronica duo featured Matt Schwartz (b. 26 October 1971, Haifa, Israel) and Joel Edwards (b. England). The two men had both worked on dance projects before performing together as Deepest Blue in 2002. Singer-songwriter Edwards had previously worked with artists such as Ed Case, while dance producer Schwartz had worked with artists such as Bristol trip-hop pioneers Massive Attack, co-writing "Dissolved Girl" from Mezzanine. After being signed to Data Records the duo had success in late 2003 with their mesmerizing debut "Deepest Blue" and the follow-up "Give It Away" in early 2004. Both singles entered the UK Top 10. The group was noted for delivering a relaxed take on the dance genre. Another single, "Shooting Star", went on to be used regally as background music on the television channel Sky Sports, although it failed to reach the UK Top 40.
