Rooney
Los Angeles, USA-based pop rock band formed in 1999 by Robert Carmine (b. Robert Coppola Schwartzman, 24 December 1982, Los Angeles, California, USA; vocals/guitar), Taylor Locke (guitar/vocals), Ned Brower (drums/vocals), Matthew Winter (bass) and Louis Stephens (keyboards). Carmine is the scion of a famous Hollywood family, his mother being the actress Talia Shire and his father the late producer Jack Schwartzman. Both Robert and his brother Jason followed their mother into the movies, with Robert (still using his birth name at this point) landing roles in The Virgin Suicides (directed by his cousin Sophia Coppola) and The Princess Diaries. Like Jason, who plays drums in the band Phantom Planet, Robert also developed a sideline music project. Originally named Ed Rooney, after one of the lead characters in the classic 80s movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the band later shortened their name to the simpler Rooney.
