Boomkat
Boomkat is a US brother/sister duo that tends to alternate between easy-to-digest rap, urban soul, and pop. Taryn (b. 6 November 1978, Tucson, Arizona, USA) and Kellin Manning (b. USA) inherited their love of music from their father, who played both keyboards and drums in various bands located in the Washington, DC, area. When their father suddenly died in 1993, the Mannings decided to pursue music together, as a "tribute" of sorts to him. Kellin picked up a drum set that his father had left behind (and began writing his own compositions), while Taryn took vocal lessons (in addition to pursuing an acting career). With the addition of a sampler, an effects box, and a four-track home recording studio, the siblings began recording demos.
