Vivian Green
b. 1979, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. This versatile singer benefited from the rise in popularity of the neo-soul movement around the new millennium, releasing her debut album in 2002. Green developed an early appreciation of music through her mother, who would often sing songs to her. At the age of eight, Green began playing piano, and within a span of five years, began writing her own compositions and performing as part of a group called Younique. By 15, Green was sending out demos of her original songs and writing for other artists, in addition to performing old time standards alongside a big band. While still a teenager, Green began singing back up for renowned acts such as Boyz II Men and Jill Scott, which resulted in a recording contract of her own in November 2001, with Sony Records. Instead of having a wide variety of songs already written to select from, Green opted to write the majority of her subsequent debut album from scratch. A Love Story, which was released in November 2002, spawned the popular single "Emotional Rollercoaster".
