Aaron Lines
b. 17 November 1977, Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. At the age of 11 Lines was taught guitar by an open-minded tutor who encouraged him to play all kinds of music, including country. He also began singing and soon added songwriting to his list of accomplishments. With a brother and a school friend he formed a band and also appeared on a local radio station, singing his own songs. This led to live appearances in neighbourhood bars. Not long afterwards, now a young adult, he moved first to Edmonton where he studied at the university. A demo tape he had made was sent to an Arista Records executive, which led to a spell in Los Angeles, California. Lines began polishing his writing skills and developing new aspects of the craft before, in 1999, heading for Nashville, Tennessee. During this period he set up a show to draw attention not only to his songwriting but also to his performing. When a record deal fell through, he went on tour, opening for another Canadian singer, Paul Brandt. Releasing some singles he had financed himself, Lines was noticed and picked up nominations at the 2001 Canadian Country Music Awards and the 2002 Juno Awards.
