Howie Day
b. 15 January 1981, Bangor, Maine, USA. This pop rock singer-songwriter first emerged in the late 90s as a popular draw on the Boston coffee house circuit. Day began playing piano and guitar in his early teens and before long had begun performing live sets and writing his own material. Before reaching 20 he had recorded his debut, Australia, that was released by the independent Daze label in 2000. The album paid tribute to Day's precocious talent, with his gift for melody and storytelling evident in fine tracks such as "Sorry So Sorry" and "More You Understand". Australia went on to sell over 10,000 copies and attract the attention of the major labels, resulting in Day signing a recording contract with Sony Records. His debut was re-released by the Sony imprint Epic in 2002 while Day was preparing material for his new album. Stop All The World Now was recorded in London, England with producer Youth and musical input from ex-Verve bass player Simon Jones. One of the album tracks, "Collide", belatedly reached the US singles chart in spring 2005.
