Orishas
Despite humble beginnings, rap has since successfully crossed over to other parts of the world, as evidenced by the emergence of groups such as Orishas, four Cuban born rappers who are based in Paris, France. Orishas' roots lay in a previous outfit, Amenaza, which included rappers Guerrero (b. Yotuel Omar Romero-Manzanares) and Ruso aka Ruzzo (b. Hiram River¡). When the group split, the duo enlisted the help of fellow rappers Roldan (b. Rold n Rivero) and Flaco-Pro (b. Liv n Alem n), as well as French rap producer Don d'Niko (b. Nicolas Nocchi), leading to the birth of Orishas in 1999. The group took their name from the messengers of a Santer¡a deity, and from the beginning has not been afraid to voice their political views (such as opposing certain anti-immigration political parties, who have won parliamentary seats in Europe).
