Kelly Osbourne
b. 27 October 1984, London, England. The daughter of heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne and promoter Sharon Osbourne, the vocal and forthright Kelly first sprang into the nation's consciousness on the MTV reality television series The Osbournes. The show was an immediate hit right from its launch in early 2002, with the larger-than-life Kelly more than holding her own against her parents and grumpy sibling Jack. By the end of the year she had landed a major label recording contract with Epic Records on the strength of her exposure on the show and her cover version of Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach", included on the tie-in Osbourne Family Album. The clunky pop rock of Shut Up found little favour with critics or music buyers, however, and the album's commercial failure led to the termination of Osbourne's contract with Epic. Despite a brief period in rehab the unbowed singer bounced back with an acting role in the ABC series, Life As We Know It. She signed a new recording contract with Sanctuary Records and enjoyed success duetting with her father on the UK chart-topping "Changes", which prompted Sanctuary to re-release her debut album under a new title. Osbourne recruited hit maker Linda Perry to help record her follow-up, Sleeping In The Nothing. The album ditched the rock mannerisms of her debut in favour of a more suitable electro-pop sound. The single "One Word" enjoyed notable success in the dance charts, but ultimately sales were as disappointing as her debut.
