Tommy Lee
b. Thomas Bass, 3 October 1962, Athens, Greece. One of the most high profile rock drummers of the 80s and 90s, as much for his scandalous personal life as his musicianship, Lee was born in Athens, Greece. He relocated with his family to California at the age of one. His first band was Suite 19, following which he changed his name to Tommy Lee and joined the fledgling Mtley Cre. This larger than life heavy rock quartet enjoyed a string of bestselling albums during the 80s and were a byword for excess and decadence. A master showman, Lee's antics including performing on stage with a revolving drum kit. He also became a fixture on the celebrity circuit owing to his marriages to Hollywood actresses Heather Locklear and Pamela Anderson. His fraught relationship with the latter included a notorious "sex tape" scandal and a brief prison sentence in 1998 following Anderson's accusation of wife-beating.
