Aleks Syntek
b. Ra£l Alejandro Escajadillo Pe¤a, 29 September 1969, Mrida, Yucat n, Mexico. Taking an interest in music from a very early age, Syntek was composing music and writing lyrics before he entered his teenage years. In his mid-teens he became a professional musician and also chose his moniker, which is a compacted version of the Spanish "sin teclados" ("without keyboards"), a joking reference to his having had to borrow an instrument from a friend. In the late 80s and early 90s his compositions were recorded by artists such as Sasha Sokol ("Muvete A Mi Alrededor" and "Sinteme") and Timbiriche ("Sac£dete" and "Escapar De Ti"). In 1990 he formed his own band, Aleks Syntek Y La Gente Normal. His record releases proved very popular in Mexico with the compilation set 89-99 reaching double platinum at the end of the decade.
