Daniel Ash
b. 31 July 1957, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England. A founder member of Bauhaus, Tones On Tail, and Love And Rockets, Ash emerged in 1991 with his first solo album, Coming Down, on Beggars Banquet Records. It reached number 109 in the US charts on the back of the concurrent stateside popularity of Love And Rockets. However, a single from it, "This Love", although highly commercial, failed to chart. The album included guest vocalist Natasha Atlas. The 1992 follow-up Foolish Thing Desire was an equally diverse and enjoyable album, but following its release Ash elected to concentrate on Love And Rockets for the rest of the decade. Following their split in 1999, and after completing the successful Bauhaus reunion tour, Ash returned to solo work with a self-titled third album. Daniel Ash (2002) was recorded with DJ/mixer Patina Crme and had a strong electronic feel. An enjoyable live album followed in 2005, by which time Ash had rejoined Bauhaus for a second reunion tour.
