Mr. Cheeks
b. Terrence Kelly, 28 March 1971, Queens, New York City, New York, USA. Rapper Mr. Cheeks is best known for his stint with 90s crew the Lost Boyz, before launching his own solo career shortly after the new millennium. Although based in Miami, Florida, Cheeks is originally from Queens, New York, the same area where the Lost Boyz rocketed out of during the early 90s. The quartet issued several well-received albums over the remainder of the decade, before Cheeks' long-time friend and bandmate, Freaky Tah, was murdered in March 1999. Although the group has never officially disbanded, the Lost Boyz came to a halt shortly afterwards as Mr. Cheeks embarked on a solo career. Signed to Uptown Records, the rapper's 2001 debut, John P. Kelly, was titled after his grandfather and cousin, who had both recently died. The album turned out to be a star-studded affair, as it featured cameos by Big Gipp of Goodie Mob, Easy Mo Bee, Mr. Sexxx, Horace Brown, plus Bob Marley's son, Stephen Marley.
