My Vitriol
This UK rock band, who take their name from a reference in Graham Greene's novel Brighton Rock, first came together in 1997 when Som Wardner (b. Colombo, Sri Lanka; guitar, vocals) and Ravi Kesavaram (drums) met at University College London. The pair's first collaboration as My Vitriol, the demo "Delusions Of Grandeur", secured them some airplay on national radio, with tracks also later appearing on label compilations. After finishing their final exams the line-up was completed by fellow UCL student Carolyn Bannister (bass) and former Mint 400 member Seth Taylor (guitar). A double-sided single "Always Your Way"/"Pieces", issued through the singles club of the prodigious Org label, created a great deal of interest in the music press and the band was signed to Infectious Records in late 1999 after a mere seven live outings.
