Eden's Crush
The female vocal group created by the US version of the globally successful "reality TV" show, Popstars. Screened on The WB channel in the first two months of 2001, the series documented the creation of a pop group by a panel of experts comprising Travis Payne, Jennifer Greig-Costin and Jaymes Foster-Levy. The original cast of thousands was whittled down, through a series of workshops, to the lucky five. Ana Maria Lombo (b. 8 May 1978, Medellin, Colombia), Ivette Sosa (b. 15 September 1976, Edison, New Jersey, USA), Maile Misajon (b. 17 September 1976, Long Beach, California, USA), Nicole Scherzinger (b. 29 June 1978, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA), and Rosanna Tavarez (b. 10 February 1977, New York, USA) were then relocated to a house in Los Angeles, where they trained and rehearsed and then recorded their Sire Records/143 Records debut, with the aid of several leading pop songwriters and producers. By this point in time, the television series had revealed the five women's identities and their name: Eden's Crush. The quintet's "Get Over Yourself" repeated the global success of the Popstars format, becoming the biggest-selling debut for a new group in US chart history when it was released in March 2001. Despite their initial success the group's commercial star soon faded, and record company problems and personal differences hastened their demise. Scherzinger later peformed with the Pussycat Dolls.
