This multi-international teen pop group was assembled in Hamburg, Germany in the late 90s. A Touch Of Class, to give them their full name, comprises Joe Murray (b. New Zealand), Tracey Packham (b. England), Livio Salvi (b. Italy), and Sarah Egglestone (b. Australia), who first met as cast members in a German production of Cats. The quartet were signed to BMG Records and placed in the hands of producer Alex Christensen, who enjoyed pop success of his own in the early 90s as U96. The collaboration reaped immediate benefits in Germany when "Around The World (La La La La La)", a ridiculously catchy slice of dance pop, topped the singles chart for seven weeks during summer 2000. The song went on to enjoy huge success on other European charts, and broke through in America the following year. The quartet's debut Planet Pop adhered to the winning Euro pop formula.
