Brighter Side Of Darkness
Formed in Chicago, Illinois, USA, in 1971, Brighter Side Of Darkness consisted of teenage singers Larry Washington, Ralph Eskridge, Randolph Murph and a 12-year-old lead singer Darryl Lamont. All were schoolfriends at Calumet High School. Murph, Eskridge and the group's producer, Clarence Johnson, wrote the soul song "Love Jones", and it was placed with 20th Century Records, climbing into the US pop Top 20 and reaching number 3 R&B in early 1973. Following the hit, a disagreement between the record label and the group resulted in the firing of all the members except Lamont. An album and several other singles were issued but none were successful.
