The Free Movement
Formed in Los Angeles, California, USA in 1970, Free Movement made the Billboard Top 5 in the US with "I've Found Someone On My Own". The group was a sextet, some of whom had gospel singing experience, including Josephine Brown, Godoy Colbert, Cheryl Conley, Jennifer Gates, Adrian Jefferson and Claude Jefferson. The group made a demo record and was signed by Decca Records in 1971. The debut single took six months to climb the charts, eventually reaching number 5. Ironically, by the time the record was a hit, the group had left Decca and signed with Columbia Records, where they released an album and two singles.
