Max Graham
b. 1971, Canada. A DJ/producer, Graham rose to prominence on the trance/"progressive" house scene, owing in part to acclaim from peers such as Paul Oakenfold, Timo Maas and Nick Warren and several well-received 12-inch singles on the Scottish label Hope Recordings. Taking to the decks at the age of 15, Graham experimented with numerous styles of dance music before being inspired by the "epic" or progressive house sound of the early 90s. Excited by the music of Underworld, BT, Sasha and Oakenfold, Graham persevered in evangelising a style of music that was relatively unpopular in his native Canada. His DJing style of melodic, string-laden trance juxtaposed with harder techno-based tracks, heard to best effect on the club favourites "Airtight" and "Backdraft', has now secured him an international following and he has a monthly residency at the UK's high-profile mega-club, Gatecrasher. He tours extensively as a DJ, regularly playing at large clubs and festivals. In 2001, he mixed the fourth instalment in Kinetic Records" Transport series.
