Down
b. Juan Martinez, Oxnard, California, USA. This Latino rapper had been making underground records for almost a decade before breaking through into the mainstream in 2007 with the hit single, "Lean Like A Cholo". Raised in an immigrant family in Oxnard, California, the young Martinez was inspired by west coast legends Cypress Hill to begin rapping at an early age. His first efforts were recorded with his childhood friend Edward "E-Dub" Rios on the duo's home studio set-up. As they gained confidence and began to make an impact on the street scene, the duo set up the Kilogram Music and Silent Giant Entertainment labels to facilitate the release of their music. Martinez, who had adopted the Down moniker for recording, made his debut in 2003 with California Cowboys. Boasting guest slots from established rappers such as Snoop Dogg, Daz Dillinger and MC Ren, the album celebrated Martinez's Mexican heritage with healthy samples of Chicano funk, mariachi and corridos.

hey in case you didn't know phil made this band instead of going to rest which is he told the band of Pantera. I say it was Phil's fault that Dimbag Darrel got shot and killed.
