Los Bukis
Formed in the mid-70s in Ario de Rosales, Michoacan, Mexico, the name of this band translates colloquially as "little kids'. Founding members were cousins Marco Antonio Sol¡s (b. 29 December 1959, Ario De Rosales, Michoac n, Mexico; vocals), and Joel Solis (b. 24 December 1956, Ario De Rosales, Michoac n, Mexico; guitar), who had earlier worked together at Los Hermanitos. Over the next few years, other band members included Jos Javier Sol¡s (percussion), Roberto Guadarrama (b. 19 May 1960, Chalchihuites, Zacatecas, Mexico; keyboards), Pepe Guadarrama (b. Chalchihuites, Zacatecas, Mexico; percussion/saxophones), Eusebio Cortez (b. 16 December 1958, Mexico City, Mexico; bass), and Pedro S nchez (b. 27 August 1957, Uruapan, Michoac n, Mexico; drums). The band's repertoire included both traditional and contemporary Latin pop, with the music of the members" native land being especially prominent. Their debut album included an original, the title track "Falso Amor", which became a hit single, while other songs, many of them originals by Marco Antonio Sol¡s, included "Navidad Sin Ti" and "Necesito Una Compa¤era". Apart from successful singles the group's albums also sold well, with Tu Carcel exceeding one million copies.
