Isley Jasper Isley
This trio broke away from the Isley Brothers in 1984. Instrumentalists Ernie Isley (guitar), Chris Jasper (keyboards) and Marvin Isley (bass) had augmented the latter group during its highly successful 70s reign, but their own subsequent career confirmed their deft vocal abilities. The group's early releases were overshadowed by their former achievements, but a soul chart-topper, "Caravan Of Love" (1985), successfully covered in the UK by the Housemartins, proclaimed their new identity. Later singles were, however, less popular, and two years later Jasper began recording as a solo act. His "Superbad" single reached the R&B Top 3 in 1987.
